Hello!

I'm a seasoned journalist who cut my teeth in print and broadcast newsrooms.

I grew up on a farm in central North Carolina and hold deep reverence for farmers and food producers. Before attending journalism school at UNC-Chapel Hill, I worked in restaurants and hotels for several years. These experiences eventually led to a career in food, travel, and restaurant technology writing.

Entrepreneurship is in my blood; as a kid I was always trying to find ways to make a buck. Whether it was getting good grades (I got $5 for every "A" I brought home), doing cores around the house, or mucking horse stalls, if there was money to be made, I was in! Later, I mowed lawns and babysat.

As a teenager, my first job was in a restaurant and I instantly fell in love with the industry. I loved taking care of guests, working my own schedule, and, for the most part, being in control of how much money I made. Over the years, I worked practically every position in a restaurant: host, server, bartender, catering, prep, line cook, dishwasher, shift lead. Everything except management—I'm many things, but not a glutton for punishment!

I've always loved traveling, fitness, and anything related to adrenaline-producing adventures (hiking, distance running, skydiving, bungee jumping, etc.), so when I became a working journalist, I naturally gravitated toward those verticals.

These days, I create B2B and B2C content for the food, restaurant, hospitality, travel, retail, and CPG industries. At my day job, I create branded content for some of the biggest restaurant and tech brands in the industry. I still freelance food, restaurant, and hospitality-focused content for newsstand magazines and digital outlets as well.

No disrespect to influencers, but don't get it twisted: I'm a journalist to the core. My work is rooted in ethics, accuracy, God-given curiosity, and crafting impactful narratives—particularly those driven by strong characters and innovative initiatives.

My work has been nominated for two James Beard media awards, and I've won multiple fellowships to further my education over the years. I was the first digital assistant editor at Denver's acclaimed 5280 Magazine, the first content marketing manager at Bounteous, and the first West Virginia Bureau Chief for The Food Section. I like pioneering things!

My mission is to deliver content that inspires, informs, educates, and empowers. My superpower: Turning a brand’s unique stories into "content with voice" that evokes emotion and drives results.

Aside from writing and marketing, I'm a serial learner and entrepreneur. I went to real estate school and rent houses, teach aerial yoga, and am a lifelong runner and gym rat. When I'm not doing any of that, I'm on a road trip with my cattle dog, trying out a new restaurant, or growing food and pollinator plants.
